Instead of replacing your cabinets or doors, consider having them professionally painted using a “glazing” technique.  In these rooms, we were able to maintain the existing flooring and countertops by just giving the cabinetry some TLC.

If you have a dark, dreary bathroom or toilet room, it may no be feasible to add a window.  Instead, replace the existing door with one with obscure glass.  Instantly, there is a brightness to the room (and a great looking door)!
